Tom sure got a surprise during the rehearsal of "Toledo Surprise". Instead of poking his head through and saying "surprise", his entire self tripped through and he ended up with these crazy/awful looking battle wounds and a terrible headache (that faded into incessant ear ringing....). Thanks for taking one for the team, Tom! You're a trooper!
Cory got this snap shot from a video he took of "Toledo Surprise", and he titled the shot, "the best damn screen grab ever" and I'm inclined to agree. Eric's face is THE BEST!!! :)
Tom was filling in for Sonya as "Man in Chair", but my Keziah had already put her dolly and tiger on the chair, so what did sweet Tom do? He put those toys in his lap! What a great guy! Thanks to Cory for snapping this pic! :)
Keep up the great work everyone, and have a good weekend! We've moved into the Annex, and we're getting stuff done! I'm personally glad to be out of the church as a rehearsal space, but geepers, the Annex is colder than usual! Yes? Anywho, I've been dreadfully negligent of this blog, but really, is anyone even reading it? I'm not sure....I could just be talking to myself....? Perhaps. :) Here are a few pictures from Greg from our last few rehearsals at the church. I love that we have photos from rehearsals; it's like the photo documentation of the vacuum that our lives got sucked into! I don't know about anyone else, but I'm having fun getting this show ready!
We've got some numbers choreographed, finished (loosely) Act I, we're learning the songs (slowly but surely), and soon we'll have the whole cast back from all the other shows they're in! Woot woot! :) Well, the auditions are over, and although we didn't have a great number turn out, we sure did have a lot of really talented people come out! Wowwy! Seriously, it's the difference between weak, instant coffee and a shot of espresso! The group that came out was strong and wonderful! If you came out to audition, thank-you so much! The show obviously could not happen if you didn't prepare and show up to audition! Now the real work starts with having call-backs this coming Saturday, nailing down who will get which role, then rehearsals begin!
I'm glad auditions are over! Seriously, every year leading up to audition dates (whether I'm trying out or not), I get a cold-sore on my lip! Every year! Whomp whomp. Well, that's all I have to say for now À plus tard, Amy-Lyn .....I'm not sure why I'm signing off like this is a letter....? Well, December 15th we had the first production meeting for the spring 2015 show, The Drowsy Chaperone! Director Moira Forester, David Kidd the vocal music director, and the choreographer Amy-Lyn Van Londersele (that's me!) got together to hash out the details of the gruelling schedule that awaits those who try out for this fantastic comedy musical! We were joined too by Steve Forrester the set designer, as well as Brittany Ollerenshaw who is making a documentary about all the work that goes into a stage musical. Local photographer Greg Pinchin was with us also (hence the beautiful photos from our meeting!), as he will be assisting Brittany by taking photos of the process of putting on a show. If you want to help fund this documentary project (before December 26th), click here. Anywho, we spent about 2 hours working some of the kinks out of the schedule, drinking coffee, and eating treats. Then Moira and I divided up the dance numbers as duel-choreographers! There are some fantastic singing numbers, some great dances (both large and small), and the story is truly a one-of-a-kind musical idea! It is honestly one of the funnier shows you'll ever see, pinky swear! :)
